Business India
The magazine of the corporate world
BUSINESS INDIA is India's first and foremost business magazine. Launched in February
1978, this business fortnightly pioneered the market for business journalism, in
India. Through the years, despite new entrants in the field, BUSINESS INDIA enjoys
the enviable reputation of being India's most respected and most credible business
magazine.
When this business fortnightly released its inaugural issue, the business precinct
was considered a forbidden territory for journalism. Unfazed by what was considered
socially incorrect in those days, Business India ventured out to play the role of
a catalyst and create an environment for business and industry to flourish. In the
process, it provided a leadership of ideas for the business community, policymakers,
institutions and academia in India.
Since then the magazine has been at the forefront of forecasting and analysing events
and trends, reporting on business, industry and the financial markets, celebrating
entrepreneurship and encouraging liberalization of economic structures, while all
along setting new standards and viewpoints. In the process, Business India has pioneered
new readership markets, when others saw none, and created a new breed of business
reporters and journalists.
With the values of Business India setting the guideline, the magazine's primary
objective is to create awareness and educate public opinion on critical issues and
choices in business, industry, the economy and society; to generate discussion and
debate on policies and alternatives; and to provide a leadership of ideas.
A Leadership of Ideas:
Informative, topical, objective and comprehensive BUSINESS INDIA provides the complete
picture on Indian business and the economy. It packs its pages with in-depth and
analytical articles, focusing on different areas of interest and a variety of subjects
which have a bearing on the mainstream of business.
The magazine provides in-depth coverage, like no other; hard hitting cover stories
on current events and companies in the news; corporate reports; news from the world
of advertising, marketing, retail; special reports and focus pieces on the topic
of the day and many other stories that affect the Indian business and economy.
BUSINESS INDIA is constantly attuned to the changing needs of its readers and endeavours
to satisfy these needs in the best possible manner. This is what has made the magazine
the success that it is.
Setting the trend:
Being the pioneer in the arena of business journalism, Business India came up with
many firsts in the form of special reports and surveys as well as full fledged cover
stories that went onto become best sellers among all magazine issues. Cover stories
of Super 100, Best B Schools, Where to Invest, Best Bank and Highest Paid Executives
have gone on to make history by their sheer popularity.
Another first by Business India was the Businessman of the Year Award. It was instituted
26 years ago as a part of the magazine's mission to commend outstanding performance
by a businessman in India in a particular year; to honour and recognize excellence
in business and to act as a role model for others to follow.
Not only is it the first such distinction to be introduced in the country, but over
the years it has built up enormous goodwill and prestige. The exclusivity of this
award makes it stand out in a sea of clones. The pre-eminence of the selection panel
and the selection process, has ensured that Business India's Businessman of the
Year is a distinction that remains the most coveted by the business community.
